This description makes it clear that there is a connection between oil, natural gas and biofuel legislation and environmental regulation, complying with constitutional guidelines and Brazilian energy policy.
In the case of discarding process water or offshore production, art. 17, § 1, con- tains a specific environmental regulation (in this case, regarding the issue, it was included in CONAMA Resolution No. 393/200787); a similar hypothesis is that the discharge of solid wastes from oil-well drilling operations must be the object of a specific regulation by IBAMA (art. 20).
However, there is no specific environmental regulation on the issue at the end of production or when there is no need to drill a well for exploratory activities.
